The Apple Watch is truly a marvelous gadget. It offers a wide range of features, from fitness tracking, heart rate, and blood oxygen monitoring to calling, texting, and even streaming music through Spotify.
But can you watch Netflix on Apple Watch as well?
The short answer is yes, you can watch Netflix on your Apple Watch. Though there is no official Netflix app on the App Store for the Apple Watch, there are some workarounds you can follow to watch Netflix on your device.
In this post, I’m going to reveal exactly how to watch Netflix on your Apple Watch and what you need to know before you get started.
Afterward, I will also show you how to watch movies and YouTube on the Apple Watch.
How Can You Watch Netflix on Apple Watch?
Apple Watch does not have a built-in Netflix app, nor can you download it from the App Store.
However, this doesn’t mean you can’t watch Netflix on your Apple Watch. There are actually two different workarounds you can follow to watch Netflix on your device.
Option #1 – Use Apple Watch Browser via Siri
Apple Watch does not have a browser app. However, if you own Apple Watch Series 7 or a later version, you can use Siri to access the browser on your Apple Watch.
Here are the steps you need to follow to watch Netflix on Apple Watch using this method:
- Wake up your Apple Watch and long press the Digital Crown button. This will activate Siri on your device.
- Then, give Siri a command by saying “Hey Siri, Open Browser” or “Hey Siri, Open Safari”.
- Once the browser is open, search for Netflix or give a direct command to Siri to open “netflix.com”.
- After Netflix opens, quickly enter your username and password to start streaming on your Apple Watch.
Option #2 – Mirror your iPhone Camera on your Apple Watch
If option #1 does not work for you because your Apple Watch version is lower than Series 7, then you can consider using the below method.
- First, launch Netflix on your TV, laptop, or computer.
- Next, select the movie or TV show you’d like to watch and play it on your TV, laptop, or computer.
- Next, open the Camera app on your iPhone and position it towards the screen displaying Netflix.
- Once your iPhone is set up, launch the Watch OS Camera app on your Apple Watch to mirror your iPhone’s camera on the watch.
Can You Watch Movies on Apple Watch?
Yes, you can watch movies on your Apple Watch. But in my opinion, watching movies on Apple Watch is not an ideal way to enjoy movies.
However, if you’re an avid movie watcher and want to learn how to play movies on Apple Watch, you can do so by using the screen mirroring feature.
As you can already guess, this method requires your iPhone to be nearby and connected to your Apple Watch via Bluetooth.
To watch movies on your Apple Watch using this method, you can simply follow the same method that I explained just above for watching Netflix.
All you have to do is, play the movie you want to watch on your iPhone and open the Watch OS Camera App to mirror your iPhone’s screen on your Apple Watch.
Can You Watch YouTube on your Apple Watch?
If you’re wondering whether you can watch YouTube on your Apple Watch, the answer is yes. But it’s not simple. There are a few things you need to keep in mind in order to watch your favorite YouTube videos on your wrist.
Firstly, you need to download a third-party app called WatchTube.
This app is available for free on the App Store, but your watch needs to be on watchOS 6 or later to use it.
Once you’ve downloaded the app, you can use it to search for and play YouTube videos on your Apple Watch.
It’s important to note that WatchTube doesn’t actually play the videos on your watch. Instead, it streams the videos from your iPhone to your watch. This means that you need to have your iPhone nearby and connected to the internet to use WatchTube.
End Note
In conclusion, the answer to the question “Can You Watch Netflix on Apple Watch?” is both yes and no. While it’s true that you can’t directly stream Netflix on your Apple Watch, there are some creative workarounds that can make it possible as I explained above.
But as you have learned, both options for watching Netflix on Apple Watch are a bit tiresome to set up. And I sincerely hope that Apple brings the Netflix app for their upcoming flagship Watches so that users can simply log in and enjoy their favorite movies & TV shows on their wrists.
